The Golden welcome . Onam festival is Kerala's remembrance of a golden era — Homes receive him with flowers laid in welcome, and lamps lit against the threshold. This painting lives in that moment of waiting. A woman seated on the floor, dressed in the white and gold of festival, her face warmed by the glow of the diya before her. The gold of legend, the gold of flame, the gold of harvest— all gathered in a single quiet breath. As a self-taught painter working in acrylic, I am drawn to light as both subject and emotion. In this work, the lamp is not decoration. It is the heart of the painting.
