My submission is titled "Almost In Bloom" and measures 12" x 9". It is an etching of a Gila Woodpecker perched on a saguaro cactus that is getting ready to bloom. Many of my artworks depict flora and fauna commonly found in the Sonoran desert where I live; I enjoy gathering my reference materials while hiking locally with my camera. My artwork is etched on museum quality scratchboard panels and I use a variety of tools in my art including Xacto knives, tattoo needles, and fiber glass brushes. Colors are added by brush during the etching process using professional quality watercolor paints and colored inks.
