Artist Statement Power in the wild is rarely graceful. It is earned, defended, and constantly challenged. This painting captures a defining moment between two wild Salt River mustang stallions as they collide in a struggle for dominance. Dust erupts around them, dissolving the landscape into an abstract storm of earth and motion, leaving only raw instinct at its center. Their bodies lock shoulder to shoulder, muscles straining, as the tension between strength and survival unfolds. I wanted to reveal the complex social fabric that governs wild horses. These confrontations establish order, protect future generations, and preserve the balance of the herd. They are charged with fear, determination, courage, and an unwavering will to endure. The abstract energy surrounding the horses mirrors the intensity of the encounter, drawing the viewer into the collision itself—to almost feel the thunder of hooves, the grit suspended in the air, and the relentless force of nature. Beneath the struggle lies a universal story of leadership, survival, and the instinct to persevere.
