Description: The painting depicts a scene from Greek mythology. Charon, the ferryman of the underworld, is tasked with ferrying the souls of the deceased across the Styx… Provided they can pay him. The souls who were unable to do so and have been trapped in the river for centuries, yearn in vain for a spark of life. The boat ambarcs on a journey to a place where nothing ever can return.
