"Regal companions" 2024, Australian King Parrots, male and female. Oil on linen board, 71 x 91 cm (28 x 36 inch). This painting captures the vibrant elegance of a pair of adult King Parrots. The male, with his striking red and green plumage, engages the viewer directly, while the more subdued female gazes at him with quiet curiosity, reflecting their intelligent and social nature. The moss-covered branch they share, adorned with Kangaroo Fern, symbolizes the resilience of life in the shadowed forest. The background, a gradient of deep greens, fades into abstraction, evoking the mysterious and serene depths of their natural habitat. This piece celebrates the beauty and complexity of these brilliant birds.
